On Friday, December 8th around 9:20AM I, Tiff, heard some popping noises and the lights flickered then all the power went out. I woke up my brother, G, and told him the lights went out. He then proceeded to check downstairs, when he did he saw a glaring light coming from the garage. When he opened the garage door, the meters were on fire.
He ran back up, told me to call 911 and he then knocked on the neighbors’ doors. Not too long after the call, first responders arrived and were able to quickly put out the fire. Thankfully no one was hurt or injured and the fire was only contained to that area however the damage had already been done.
We don’t know the exact cause of the fire but we’ve been out of power and heat since the fire 12/8/23.
A company that offers services for Fire and Water recover has provided us with cleaning and a generator for during the day. We unfortunately cannot keep the generator on past 10PM because of noise.
Since the fire, we have needed to purchase extra external batteries, flameless LED candles, flashlights and meals. During the day are able to have our refrigerator plugged in however when the generator is shut off, so is our fridge. We have had to throw multiple refrigerated items out which has been gut wrenching since we had just bought groceries Thursday night before the fire.
We don’t know when we’ll be able to get power and hear back on but we’re hoping soon.
