It is incredibly hard for me to ask for help, but today I’m putting my pride aside for someone who means the world to me—my dad.
My dad is currently fighting leukemia, and watching someone you love go through this is one of the most heartbreaking experiences imaginable. There have been days filled with hope and progress, and there have been days filled with fear, uncertainty, fevers, setbacks, and exhaustion. Through it all, he continues to fight with a strength that amazes me every single day.
If you know my dad, you know he’s the kind of person who would give the shirt off his back to help someone else. He’s stubborn, tough, caring, and the foundation of our family. Seeing him in a hospital bed instead of living the life he loves has been devastating.
The road ahead is still long. Between treatments, hospital stays, medications, travel expenses, and the months of recovery that come with a stem cell transplant, the financial burden has become overwhelming. While we can’t take away his leukemia, we can help ease some of the stress that comes with this fight.
