Chipper Needs Our Help ❤️
Zane and I adopted Chipper from the Blount County Humane Society in Tennessee in 2017, when he was just 6 weeks old. He was our second dog, but our very first puppy... and boy, was he a handful! From the very beginning, Chipper had a personality all his own. He quickly became Zane’s best friend, spending his days right by his side and giving his signature slobbery kisses to anyone lucky enough to meet him.
Now, nearly 11 years later, our goofy little puppy is a senior boy who needs us more than ever. During Chipper’s most recent veterinary visit, we learned that he has a tumor on his back that is cancerous. His veterinarian has recommended removing the tumor and sending it for testing so they can determine its grade, whether the surgical margins are clear, and whether there is any evidence that the cancer has spread. While this is incredibly scary for us, getting the tumor removed and tested will give us answers and help us understand what we’re facing.
Chipper is also dealing with significant dental disease. His teeth and gums are in very poor condition, and he will need an extensive dental cleaning and multiple extractions while he is under anesthesia. We know these procedures are a lot for a senior dog, but we also know how much better and more comfortable he will feel once they’re done.
Chipper has been part of our family for his entire life. He has been there through so many seasons of our lives, always offering his goofy personality, unconditional love, and, of course, plenty of slobbery kisses.
Our pets have always been our family, and Chipper holds an especially precious place in our hearts.
The estimated cost of his tumor removal, pathology, anesthesia, dental cleaning, and extractions is $3,530 through Paw Springs Veterinary Hospital in Wilmington, NC. This is a significant unexpected expense for us, and we simply cannot comfortably manage the entire cost on our own. We are hoping to raise at least half to lessen the financial burden.
