Back in July, my fiancé was diagnosed with kidney failure. It was put on Dialysis so we started in center Dialysis and transitioned over to Dialysis where I became his Caretaker. As a journey went all over the month he got put on the Transplant list here in Atlanta, Georgia GEORGIA at Emory Hospital. He went in for his evaluation. We did a lot of knowledge classes, and different things with the Transplant Team . And once they put you on a Transplant, you remain on Dialysis until you receive an imagine donor whether it’s living donor or a deceased donor. One day I was just playing around. I told my fiancé I said I’m gonna match! he told me “ Chasity get out of here and go in the room “ !!! I said OK but I’m a match. when we went back to one of his Transplant appointments. I asked the nurse if I could get tested for a living donor. I got tested the blood work and I told the nurse I said you know I’m a match, she said how do you know? Do you know your blood type? I said no, but I just know my match. Lord and the whole some days went by, I received a MyChart notification. My husband is B positive and when I got my MyChart notification, I was O + Which means I am a universal match. I cry and cry and cry and tell him I told you I was a match. I told you. Fast-forward, we got a lot more test done come to find out our tissues are identical. So April 7 I gave my fiancé a kidney and he’s doing good.
