Help Jordan Survive A Type-1 Diabetes Medical Crisis In Custody
Jordan is a 31-year-old Type-1 diabetic currently trapped in a life-threatening medical crisis while in custody.
In just the past few months, his blood sugar has repeatedly surged above 550 mg/dL — levels considered medical emergencies by the American Diabetes Association and associated with diabetic ketoacidosis, coma, organ damage, and death if left untreated.
Despite this, he has repeatedly been denied emergency hospital care.
He has gone hours overnight without monitoring, even after dangerously high readings. Requests for emergency treatment have been ignored. Fast-acting insulin was once denied because it “wasn’t in the standing orders.” His symptoms have repeatedly been dismissed.
I personally contacted the jail’s medical unit to report the emergency, and nothing changed.
Jordan’s glucose levels now swing daily from dangerously low hypoglycemia to severe hyperglycemia. The instability has become constant.
And now, on top of the medical crisis, we are facing a legal emergency.
Jordan was arrested during a traffic stop for expired tags while he had an outstanding warrant. At the time, he was only days away from entering a rehabilitation program where he had already been accepted and given a start date. Instead of getting the help he had been preparing for, he was taken into custody — and his medical condition quickly spiraled.
Since then, he has repeatedly tried to advocate for himself:
requesting medical attention,
asking to see a doctor,
requesting emergency care,
and trying to stabilize his diabetes safely.
But he continues to face delays, indifference, and inconsistent treatment.
His public defender has had virtually no communication with him about his case, emergency motions, or possible medical release options. We recently learned the public defender is out long-term with pneumonia, and we still have no answers, no strategy, and no timeline.
Meanwhile, I have done everything I possibly can from the outside:
-documented glucose emergencies,
-compiled medical concerns,
-gathered supporting records,
-contacted rehabilitation programs,
-contacted his probation officer,
-prepared information for the court,
-and reached out to every resource I can find.
But none of it can legally reach a judge without proper legal representation.
Right now, a private attorney is our only realistic chance to:
-file emergency medical motions,
-request a hearing,
-obtain medical records,
-present evidence of the medical neglect,
-request release to proper medical care,
-and help Jordan enter rehabilitation safely before his condition worsens further.
Jordan has now spent months in custody while his health continues to deteriorate.
But he does not want to give up.
He wants treatment.
He wants stability.
He wants to rebuild his life.
Jordan is one of the kindest and most genuine people I know. He loves his family deeply and wants to become someone his nephew — and my two sons — can look up to. Even through everything happening to him, he continues trying to stay hopeful and keep fighting for a future.
I am fighting for him with everything I have, but I cannot do this alone.
For safety reasons, and because we fear retaliation inside the jail, I am not posting personal photos or identifying medical records publicly at this time. Protecting his safety is extremely important.
Every donation will go toward:
-emergency legal representation,
-medical release motions,
-medical records retrieval,
-court and legal costs,
-transportation and rehabilitation coordination,
-and helping stabilize Jordan’s medical care if he is released.
If you cannot donate, sharing this campaign could still help save his life.
We are racing against time to get Jordan the medical care and legal intervention he urgently needs.
Thank you for reading, sharing, supporting, and standing with us.
