When Brittany was only 7 years old, she was in a car accident with her twin sister and mother. She suffered a spinal cord injury that paralyzed her from the waist down and left her wheelchair bound. Throughout her recovery and as the years have gone on, Brittany has had to undergo multiple surgeries to treat scoliosis and other difficulties as a result of the injury. However, it was a surgery that she would have when she was 18 that would result in many setbacks that she deals with today.
In 2008 she had a complex back surgery that failed and left her with an open incision and severe infection. Three surgeries were performed in 2012 and 2013 that all failed, leaving her in a worse condition than before. She has spent the last 15 years looking for a surgeon and devising a plan but it is extremely intricate, so she is still waiting for recovery. Meanwhile, Brittany lives independently in a single income home and tries very hard to live a fulfilling life. She has worked several jobs throughout her adult life but with a compromised immune system and an open incision on her back, it can be difficult and even dangerous to try and work.
Brittany is in need of our help so that she can get a handicap accessible vehicle as well as adaptions and repairs done to the her home so that she is safe and it’s accessible. There are also broken and outdated appliances that she needs. Brittany also continues to travel out of state to doctors and needs help with the expenses of that. Please let’s help her have a future full of promise and encouragement so that she can focus on her health right now instead of these costs. She never asks for help and very much deserves someone doing for her as much as she does for others.
