On the evening of December 2, 2024, my dear friend Erika lost her beloved husband, Marc Huber. Erika and Marc were blessed to share 26 wonderful years together, having met at Barat College when she was 18 and Marc was 21. Over the years, they built a life filled with love and three amazing children—Camilla (Mel) Huber, Daniel Huber, and Sofia Huber—each of whom embodies Marc's spirit of generosity, kindness, and zest for life.
In March of 2020, Marc was diagnosed with glioblastoma, a rare and aggressive form of brain cancer. Exactly one year later, during surgery to remove a tumor, Marc suffered a stroke that left him unable to communicate fully and required him to relearn how to walk. For the past four years, Erika and the kids have been by Marc's side, supporting him through his cancer battle and stroke recovery, and providing him with unwavering love and care as his primary caregivers.
Throughout this time, Erika continued to work full-time to maintain health insurance while also managing the demands of caregiving. Marc was able to collect disability, but now, as the family transitions to a life without him, they are in need of extra support, especially with Sofia now 13, and Daniel currently in college. I know Erika would deeply appreciate any generosity and thoughtful support you can offer as they navigate this difficult time.
