Robby’s Brother recently became an Eagle Scout driving Robby to make the same goal. Our Boy Scout camp has an accessible campsite but the rest of the camp is not very accessible. Robby spent most of his first year at Summer Camp stuck in gravel and could not even get to the lake to work on some of the merit badges he sought to earn. His second year we were blessed to be able to borrow a Trackchair allowing him to earn several merit badges and rank advancements and even catch some fish at the lake. The chair that we borrowed was a blessing but was set up for a much larger person and the joy stick was on the wrong side. After stuffing pillows around him, we were able to make it work.
Robby has a huge love for camping and hiking throughout the year and not just at Summer Camp. He really needs his own Trackchair to be able to meet his goals for Eagle Scout and hopefully someday hike Philmont.
This chair would not only give Robby the ability to camp and hike, it would also make it possible for him to access our back yard and the rear basement entrance of our home. Right now, when the storm sirens go off, we have to jump into the car and head to Des Peres to get into an underground parking garage for safety.
The $10,000 that we originally thought we were going to be able to get through a state waiver is no longer available. Please do anything you can to help him meet his goal for this special piece of equipment. Anything is an appreciated blessing.
Update
We were able to find a Trackchair for less money than we expected so our goal has been lowered. Thank you for those who have already donated to help us make our goal and thank you to Cordell Jeter’s company EcoRover for inventing this amazing piece of mobility equipment. We can’t wait to be able to call and place the order.
