Every night parents put their children to bed in their own beds. We read books and snuggle our babies in their warm comfortable beds every night. Can you imagine not being able to provide that to your child? The parents that call to ask for used mattresses as a last ditch effort to give their kids a place to sleep do not have the ability do that. Their children are sleeping on the floor or an air mattress or couch. As a new business owner of a mattress store I relieve calls texts, and emails requesting fee or used mattresses for children. In Baltimore and surrounding area there is a real need for mattresses and beds for children in poverty or families running from domestic abuse. I do my best to sell mattresses at cost or even less, but I alone can not meet the needs of our community. I set a goal of 100 beds in 30 days. I know I can order in beds, mattresses, bedding and a pillow for 100 children in the next 30 days. I wanted to get beds in homes before summer break begins. I want to help get these little ones off of the floors, old dirty mattresses and air mattresses in time to relax and sleep in. Who doesn’t want to do that? I could easily find 500 children in need, but I want to provide beds, mattresses, sheets and pillows for 100 and see if my friends, family and community will rise up and help these families. The economy is tough, but I’m hoping with my resources and some donations we can achieve this and maybe change some children’s lives. I hope you can see how important a safe bed for a child can be and will contribute $5 or $10 toward my goal. Let’s give a kid a bed today.
