Some people come into your life and instantly make it brighter. Julio is one of those people. If you have ever met him, you know exactly what I mean. He is the kind of person who makes you smile without even trying. He will spark up a conversation with anyone, crack a joke at just the right moment, or give you a hard time if you are not a Raiders fan.
Right now, Julio is back in the hospital. He has terminal stage 4 cancer and is paralyzed from the waist down. Through it all, he has shown incredible strength, courage, and heart. The way he has faced this battle is nothing short of admirable.
Julio has spent the last 23 years building a beautiful life with the love of his life, his wife Brandie. Their story began online back in 2000, in the days of dial up internet and MSN Messenger. What started as a simple connection grew into a lifelong partnership. They eventually eloped on 12-12-12 at their favorite restaurant in Port Moody, a moment that perfectly reflects their unique and lasting love story.
Julio's greatest pride in life is his four children. His three boys, Jaden, Julian, and Jeris, and his princess, Elisabeth, are his whole world. He has always been a proud and devoted father, cheering them on and guiding them every step of the way.
Football has always been one of Julio's greatest passions. He has been a die hard Raiders fan since childhood, dating back to the days of the LA Raiders. His love for the game has carried on to his family, especially his three boys who now play football themselves. Over the years, Julio has proudly volunteered and helped coach with the Coquitlam Minor Football Association, sharing his knowledge and passion with young athletes in the community.
Julio also worked as an Equipment Operator for CN Rail, where he earned the nickname “The Shed Hefe.” He loved his job and the people he worked alongside. The camaraderie with his crew meant a lot to him, and he truly misses being with the guys.
We are hoping to raise $4,000 to place a memorial picnic table at Como Lake. This will be a special place where Brandie, his children, family, and friends can go to sit, reflect, and remember Julio. A place where his kids can visit, share stories, laugh about the jokes he used to tell, and feel close to him even after he is gone.
Julio has spent his life bringing laughter, love, and strength to everyone around him. If you are able to donate, share, or support in any way, it would mean the world to his family.
Thank you for helping us create a place where Julio's memory will always have a seat at the table. 💚
