My Swim Across America Journey: Making Waves for Fred Hutch
In September 2026, I’ll be stepping into the waters of Lake Sammamish with hundreds of others for Swim Across America Seattle. I’ll be swimming the 1 mile open water course. It’s a goal that excites me but more than anything, it inspires me!
I’ll be swimming for my dad, my grandpa, and my friend Corinna. Three people whose lives were deeply touched by cancer, and whose strength continues to guide me every single day. Their courage, resilience, humor, and love are with me each time I train, reminding me why this mission matters so much.
I’m also swimming on behalf of my own workplace Fred Hutch Cancer Center in Seattle, where groundbreaking research and compassionate care happen every day. Working here, I witness firsthand how science saves lives, how hope is built, and how relentless people are in the fight against cancer. I believe in our mission with all my heart and I’m proud to support it not just professionally, but personally as well.
