Our dilemma is ongoing for now. Some process has been made in the past six weeks but the struggle persists. We have found an agency, (TEAM), which is in Derby, that will pay first month and security deposit for a senior low income apartment. So far we haven't found anything fast enough. Some have waiting lists. CT has a housing crisis for affordable housing. This saddens me, as I was born and raised in this state! I love my home! It shouldn't be like this. My husband and I had to pack up all our stuff and Rapunzel's because we are out of money. We sat in the hotel lobby until Arland's cousin came through and made a payment for us for tonight. We almost literally had no where to go. Now we've got until 12 pm tomorrow or the same thing will happen. It's so humiliating to say the least. We definitely don't want to be homeless and literally on the street with our health issues and our dog. Arland's eye surgery to remove the cataract is August 12th here in Milford. We need to be able to sustain until he is cleared to return to work so we can make ends meet again. We still don't have a vehicle and my SSI has been withheld as of this month due to some forms being needed and SS taking their time to put the information in the computer and reinstate me! It's definitely been a super tough time for us. But the scare today of being without a place to stay is something I hope we won't face again. We truly need and appreciate the help and support. The emotional toll is awful. Any donations are used to keep us sheltered, transportation fees to appointments, toiletries, dog food and food after our SNAP is used up for the month.
