Students choose to attend Piedmont Virginia Community College (PVCC) to shape their future. That’s a responsibility we take seriously! However, many students struggle to make ends meet and financial challenges often derail their educational plans. Your support removes barriers and makes their success possible.
Did you know that two-thirds of all community college students struggle with food insecurity? Ninety-five percent of PVCC students recently surveyed indicated they could not afford to eat balanced meals, and 57 percent reported they do not have money to get more food once they run out. PVCC created the Panther Food Pantry in 2019 to meet the immediate food needs of students on campus by providing a variety of non-perishable food items and basic necessities to students and their families. Services also include nutrition education and resource support.
Since its inception, PVCC has served more than 9,211 students, provided more than 350 households with 79,853 pounds of food, fresh produce, and supplies and partnered with multiple campus and community organizations to raise awareness and support for the pantry.
Please join the PVCC Educational Foundation in celebrating #GivingTuesday this year by making a gift in support of the Panther Food Pantry. We have set a goal of getting 200 individuals to contribute to our cause. Please consider making a gift of $25 to help us achieve our fundraising goal of $5,000.
