Hello, we’d like to tell you about our amazing person, Otis Ripley.
Otis is a loving uncle of 13 and a Ramsey resident who manages a Sober House in St. Paul. This supportive counselor is dedicating his career to helping others’ turn their lives around. Otis has been on a painful and debilitating journey that has slowed his progress towards his counseling degree.
Over the past 11 years, Otis has been afflicted with multiple arterial blood clots that have resulted in 15 surgeries. Doctors harvested arteries from all over his body in multiple attempts to correct future clotting. Unfortunately, none of the surgeries were successful. This past Christmas the doctors were forced to make the difficult decision to amputate his left leg above the knee. Post-surgery has come with new challenges for Otis. He is exhausted from the physical therapy, decreased mobility, extended hospital stays, re-learning simple tasks like grocery shopping, showering, going up and down stairs and driving. In early February he suffered a stroke that has led to more physical therapy for speech, hand and arm strength.
To help ease the financial burden that has been placed upon Otis, a benefit has been scheduled for April 15th, 2023, at Cowboy Jack’s in New Brighton from 1-4pm.
