Hello, my name is Blaise Bastien, and I am asking our community to come together to support my father, Daniel Bastien, as he faces one of the most difficult challenges of his life.
My dad was recently diagnosed with lung cancer while already living with COPD. This diagnosis has taken a significant toll on his health and has greatly impacted his ability to work and provide for his family. As the sole provider for our household, the financial strain of medical treatments, medications, and everyday expenses has become overwhelming.
If you know my dad, you know that helping others has never been something he did for recognition—it is simply who he is. Throughout his life, he has dedicated countless hours, resources, and energy to supporting people in need and strengthening our community.
Over the years, Daniel has proudly supported and participated in numerous charitable organizations and community initiatives. He served with United Way for eight years, earning recognition as a “Leader of the Way.” He has supported the Big Brothers Association, participated in the Canadian Cancer Society’s Dance for Life events, and took part in the Canadian Cancer Society Flyathon, where he was awarded for contributing the most volunteer flying hours. He has sponsored Heart for Life marathons, supported the Handicap Citizens Advocacy Group, and has been involved in CASCAR racing sponsorships and fundraising efforts benefiting cancer-related causes.
These are only a few examples of the many ways my father has given back. He has always been the first person to step forward when someone needed help, often without anyone knowing the sacrifices he made to do so. Whether through volunteering, sponsorships, fundraising efforts, or simply showing up when someone needed him, he has spent decades making a difference in the lives of others.
Today, the man who has spent so much of his life helping others is the one who needs help.
This fundraiser has been created to help cover medical expenses, treatment costs, travel expenses, lost income, and everyday household bills so that my father can focus on what matters most: fighting this disease, spending time with family, and concentrating on his recovery.
Any donation, regardless of the amount, will make a meaningful difference. If you are unable to contribute financially, sharing this fundraiser with others is another incredible way to help.
On behalf of my father and our entire family, thank you for your kindness, generosity, prayers, and support. We are deeply grateful to everyone who stands beside us during this difficult journey. Your support means more than words can express.
