Grandparents hold a special place in our hearts. They are our guides, our protectors, and often, our closest friends. My grandpa was all of that and more to me. From the time I was a little girl, he fed me, played with me, and always made me laugh. He dedicated his life to making my childhood full of joy and wonder, and for that, I am eternally grateful.But as I grew, his health started to decline. The man who once took me to all the fun places and shared in my laughter, faced severe health challenges that changed everything. When we learned of his lung infection and kidney cancer, it felt like the world stopped. Despite the odds, he fought bravely, surprising us with moments of lucidity and happiness even when times were tough.Unfortunately, the day we dreaded arrived much too soon. He passed away, leaving a void in our lives that can never be filled. Now, we face the heart-wrenching responsibility of honoring his memory and ensuring he rests peacefully in Mexico, as he wished.The cost for his farewell is significant, and we cannot do this alone.
