Hi everyone,
This is Remy, my 6-year-old greyhound and the gentlest soul I know. I adopted him as a retired racing hound at 2 years old, and he has been with me since I first started out my adulthood on my own-through moves, milestones, quiet nights, and everything in between. He's shy at first, a little skittish at times, and hilariously unsure about slippery floors, scooters on the sidewalk, and a full flight of stairs...but once he trusts you, he is the most loving, docile, sweet, and beautiful dog. He has been my constant.
Recently, Remy was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, an aggressive bone cancer. The tumor is causing him pain, and a recommended treatment to give him comfort and more quality time is a rear limb amputation. While this won't cure the cancer, it will remove the source of his pain and allow him to move and rest comfortably again.
The estimated cost of the surgery is $6,300 along with additional estimate of $1,500 for ongoing costs for post-operative medications, pain management, and follow up care. These are undeniably significant and unexpected costs. To help cover both the surgery and these added medical expenses, I've set our fundraising goal at $8,000.
Asking for help is not easy, but Remy is my family and he has given me unconditional love. I want to do everything in my power for him as well. Any donation, share, or kind thought means more to me than I can put into words.
Thank you for helping me give Remy more comfort, dignity, and most of all, good days.

Well, we are just about one week post-amputation, and this guy has been the biggest trooper!! His swelling and bruising has decreased significantly, and he has been able to rest better in the last few days. As long as the incision continues to heal as it has, he should be able to get his stitches out on Friday! I think he is starting to get a bit bored--he was very stubborn outside today when I would not let him go for a longer walk.
