My name is Shonray Brooks and I am a COVID-19 survivor. In August 2020, I contracted COVID- 19 and after only ten short days of symptoms, I was placed on a ventilator for over a month. The journey to recovery has been amazing and miraculous. I went from being on a ventilator, with a feeding tube, and a tracheostomy, unable to move to finally being liberated from the ventilator and having my feeding tube and trach, and eventually walking again and living on my own.  But the journey is not over. I have never been able to get back to work as before, and I am still struggling with long-term issues from the disease such as shortness of breath, neurological issues, generalized body aches, and chronic fatigue.  I am traveling to the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville to receive further testing and treatment that will hopefully help me improve my quality of life. The cost of my hotel stay in Jacksonville is $2800, plus Uber fees for travel at $45-$60 per day times 10 days, as well as food, (average cost in Jacksonville being $77 per day for meals), and the cost of the medical treatment itself.
