We are an American family that have just been approved to host a Ukrainian refugee family in our home here in Florida. We have started this fund to raise money for the family to travel and settle in. Airfare for Alex, Luda and the kids will be about $4,000.
When the war started last March I remembered that I had purchased a pair of earrings off of Etsy from a shop in Ukraine. I sent a simple message through the Etsy portal to the shop "Glory to Ukraine. Do you need anything?"
On the other end was a family of 4 almost identical to my family of 4 - mom and dad and 2 awesome little kids - it was an instant connection between us and within weeks we were hatching the idea to bring them here to the states for a new chapter in life.
We just got the green light from both governments that Alex, Luda and kids are approved to travel to Florida as refugees and begin the path to citizenship. Such a privilege to host a family, we have been celebrating since we hard the good news.
