Water is essential for sustaining Life and access to drinking water is a fundamental need and Vital for heath and well being. The access to safe drinking water in Liberia, particularly where I live (zwedru, which is a rural area) has been a problem for years. Because my country is facing a high level of poverty, (currently is the nine 9th poorest country in the world) Because of that Hundreds of families where I live continue to live in chronic and dire social housing conditions, in rundown and hazardous shelters and with decaying infrastructure. This included a lack of adequate drinking water. we’ve a population about 1,500 people (small town) and we always been getting our water from a very far distance about 30-minute walking and the water is not safe for drinking.

My name is Johnson Harris I am 17 years old; I am a Liberian who live in zwedru. last years I when to the united states on an international exchange program fully by the united states Department of states (Yes program) I was selected for to participate on this program because of my interest to serve people. In fact, during my time as an exchange student in Hawaii I received a certificate of Appreciation from the united states department of states for completing more than 100 volunteers Hour in 9 months.
Now, I want to help my people and myself by breaking the bared to bring safe drinking water in my town. I during this because a lot of people in my community are constantly getting sick from cholera, diarrhea, typhoid, hepatitis, and many more. This impose an additional financial burden on families because of medical bill (unlike, the united states 90% of people in Liberia don’t have insurance).
With that being said, I think the provision of adequate water supply service in terms of quality and quantity is not so much a technical issue, but a financial one.
I want to set up a Hand Pump which will provide from the ground and will be safe for drinking. But, to set up this system will cost somethings around $ 3, 000 united states dollar. But my efforts to solve this program won’t reach maximum effectiveness unless I have the backing of you.
