Dexter is our 8 year old furbaby who we rescued when he was 6 weeks old. He was recently diagnosed with Cushings Disease and is currently being treated. My husband and I are retired and on a fixed income. We are raising our Great Grandson Ryker who we were blessed with when Dexter was only a year old. These two boys have been inseparable and best friends since Ryker was born. We are all devastated that Dexter is sick and trying to assure that Dexter has a quality life as long as possible. He requires daily medications, frequent lab work and ongoing Veterinarian care. There are unpredictable complications with this illness and it has begun to exceed our financial abilities. Ryker depends on this dog for comfort, companionship and mostly love. Dexter is an amazing animal. He accompanies us everywhere. He is friendly, passive, social and obedient in public. At home he a loving, dedicated family member. He keeps us on routine, wakes us up for school, insists we exercise and makes sure we serve meals on time. Dexter pacifies on his stuffed monkey, plays tug of war and fetch, sleeps in our bed and brings us constant love and joy.
