Update, thank you so much to all that have contributed here, it means the world to me <3 I've written a blogpost here about this experience as well as steps moving forward. The total cost of this disaster for me is around 25K (car replacement, move, & security deposit forfeiture), insurance claims have brought around 10K, so I've upped the amount here to 15K, if it's possible to raise a bit more. Thank you again for your help & hope that you're doing well! Updates as well on social media @goodsthatmatter

Four months ago we opened a second store location in Asheville (Kind Hearted Goods) for many reasons - to help grow our businesses, it's a great fit for our products, & as a climate-safety spot when things go awry in New Orleans - the irony I know.
Some people are still waiting for drinking water and food to reach them. Pack mule teams are helping bring supplies to people in areas that have been cut off via mudslides or water. The situation is bad, to say the least.
For me, my car is totaled, under a big tree - still waiting to see what the insurance company will offer for the claim. My apartment is ok, as long as the bears don't get in (& yes they have been trying) & my neighbor doesn't burn it down cooking campfire meals directly on her wooden deck, fingers crossed y'all.
The power for the city may be back on in a couple of weeks, but the city's water may still be months away. We just don't know yet when the city will be functioning again. And, most of the River Arts District has been totaled, it's just our little hilltop left, we just don't know yet what the future holds for the area, our shop.....
Deepest, heartfelt thank you's to everyone who has reached out to see if I'm ok & how to help. The fundraising goal is 12K to pay for store overhead costs for us & our shop partners for the next couple of months and towards purchasing a replacement used car (don't know how much insurance will pay yet). Any overflow will go to local artists aid & mutual aid. I have evacuated to stay with family & friends in Virginia/help my Mom until I'm able to return. Thank you for your help, this was certainly not on my bingo card for this year. We're hoping to be a light in the dark at Kind Hearted Goods, but we need your help. Lots of love xoxo
ps - I've heard some folks are having issues with this site, if it's easier to send to me directly via venmo, my handle is @Tippy-Tippens Thank you so much <3

When the neighborhood community center became a city update corkboard for Q's & updates from city council (happened to bump into her on a walk around the neighborhood)
