UPDATE: Thank you to everyone who has helped me thus far. I am almost half way to the goal I need to fix the roof, soffits, tree removal and interior ceiling holes and flooring. The insurance company worked with me on the deadline. So I have until the end of February to complete the repairs.

On 7/4/26 a storm sent a tree limb crashing in to my roof and inside my house. The roof was tarped and insurance claim filed. However, due to the raise in my deductible, unknown to me, the claim was a wash. I've been saving to get the roof fixed, but I have run out of time. I received a letter on 8/18 advising cancellation of insurance on 8/30 unless I show evidence of the repair to the roof, soffit and facia. I'm afraid of what the mortgage company will do if I don't have insurance. UPDATE: I was able to get insurance coverage extended until end of February 2027.
I've lived here 19 years, raised my daughter here, made it through 2 long periods of unemployment, and managed to survive on my own until now. Needless to say, I'm terrified of losing my home because of the tight timeline.
I know times are hard for everyone but any amount you can spare would help. The universe has handed me multiple hits, physically and emotionally, in a very short time. Reaching out for help is the hardest thing I've ever done, by far. My pledge is to pay back or pay forward, and those who know me know that I will. Whether you can help or not, I'm sending each of you love from my heart and prayers up.
