My name is Davynn Peffer. I am a father from Columbus, Ohio fighting to be in my daughter Braelynn's life. I am a genuinely private person — sharing something this personal publicly goes against everything in my nature. But my own preferences will never outweigh what I need to do to be active and present in my daughter's life. So here I am.
Braelynn is three years old. She is bright, joyful, and full of personality. And for the past 18 months she has been kept from me.
In January 2025, my wife relocated Braelynn from our shared home in Ohio without my consent, without written notice, and without any court order. Since then I called her nearly every single day — 650+ documented calls over 18 months. Even phone and video contact has been restricted and at times completely denied. I have never and will never stop showing up for my daughter. But showing up through a phone screen is not the same as being with her.
In July 2026 I drove to see Braelynn in person for the first time in seven months. I was there for nine days. I saw her twice. Both evenings ended with Braelynn asking to stay with me and crying when she couldn't. On her birthday this past July I was physically present in the same area and was not allowed to see or speak to her at all.
I filed for divorce and custody in July 2026. My wife was served. The legal process is underway. But fighting this case from Ohio with attorney retainers starting at $4,500 and $300 per hour, while traveling for every hearing, is beyond what I can sustain alone.
Braelynn is also being kept from her South African family and heritage. She deserves to know both sides of who she is.
I am not asking for sympathy. I am asking for help so I can keep fighting.

Braelynn is three years old. She asked to stay with me. She cried when she couldn't. She deserves her father and I deserve to be there for her.
