On Nov 6th after a very wild and terrifying sequence of events, that I won't get into here, and a stay in the ICU at Childrens Hospital, Kaydence was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes.

Type 1 Diabetes is an autoimmune disease where the body's immune system mistakenly attacks and destroys the beta cells in the pancreas that produce insulin. There is no cure and she will have type 1 diabetes her entire life and I am learning A TON every single day about this very very misunderstood disease (it is NOT type 2 diabetes and cannot be cured) and the overwhelming management of it.

One thing that is for absolute certain, Kaydence is the strongest, bravest, most incredible girl we will ever know. She has taught us how to be brave in the midst of literal life or death and she continues to be the beacon of strength every single day. We are constantly inspired by her and now more than ever she teaches us what being strong, determined and genuine truly means.

Getting a medical alert dog will be so so beneficial for Kaydence with the constant management of her T1D. Medical alert dogs can alert to high or low blood sugar (both are very dangerous) and can give 30-45minute warnings ahead of a high or low drop. This will allow her to live as normally as possible with constant sports, activities, school and day to day living
