My name is Alesandra Price (Ali), I anm 19 years old and I am setting this Spot Fund up in high hopes to help pay for my Drum Corp season with the Battalion for 2023. But Ali, what is drum Corp? Well I am so glad you asked my friend! :) I’ll happily tell you! I will also be explaining why I am doing drum Corp, and what your donation will be going towards.

DCI or Drum Corp International is by definition: “A modern drum and bugle corps is a musical marching unit consisting of brass instruments, percussion instruments, electronic instruments, and color guard. Typically operating as independent non-profit organizations, corps perform in competitions, parades, festivals, and other civic functions.” It is also a bunch of other groups coming together staying to put together a show, and then performing that show at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana to thousands if not more people in August usually at the ending of their tour. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now for why I am participating in this activity. My first marching season was my senior year of Highschool, and so I never got to do another marching field season. I thought that’s where my on field marching career was done, and didn’t think I could continue doing the activity after I graduated Highschool, and at the time didn’t know DCI existed. Until I rediscovered it a year later and what DCI was, and learned how it has shaped and helped others grow into not only a better performer but also as a person. By teaching them hard work, patience, pushing you wayyyy out of your comfort zone, getting to meet new people and make lifelong friends, and perseverance.

The program itself is 3 months so for the rest of summer. We will be moving into either college dorms or move into a Highschool gym and sleep on the floors,(obviously with sleeping mats or air mattresses.) We move in for spring training at the beginning of June and then start touring across the states to compete against other groups and showcasing our show.
