Hello, I am writing this as I sit next to my cousin Ricky in the hospital. He was recently in a car accident that has left him with a broken femur and serious critical injuries due to the force of the airbags after the crash. For the first time in his life he is faced with the reality that he is no longer able bodied and will require a lot of assistance and care to heal.
On top of all of that, his best friend and source of comfort, his dog was in the crash. Even though he was in the safest part of the car, he did not get spared and has sustained injuries that will require veterinary care.
Watching them both battling these injuries together has been heartbreaking. The burden of what is next for them is already a lot, without even considering the expenses that will come along with it.
My wish for my cousin is that he can get some financial support due to him being off work so he can just focus on healing. No person should have to pick between care for themselves or their pet.
