Meet the Bryants! We're Samantha (19), Rachel, Caleb (17), and Nick, a family from the Kalamazoo area of Michigan who are on an incredible journey to welcome a new member into our hearts and home. In early December 2023, we received the news we'd been dreaming of – we were matched with Dieumy, a bright and loving 10-year-old boy from Haiti. Since then, our connections have become precious as we talk with him through WhatsApp video calls from his creche (children's home) in Haiti.
With each call, we fall more in love with Dieumy's vibrant spirit. He's a passionate soccer and basketball player with big dreams of joining his future friends on Michigan fields and courts. His love for reading and writing shows his curious mind, and his infectious joy while playing with friends reveals his beautiful heart.
Until now, when asked how people could help, we've simply requested prayers for our journey. Today, we're humbly expanding that request to include financial support. While we've managed to self-fund much of the adoption process, we're facing significant upcoming expenses that will help bring Dieumy home:
- Helicopter travel and security personnel required for medical appointments and airport transport in Haiti
- Potential additional legal fees to expedite the process
- Last-minute travel expenses to bring him from Haiti to Florida to Michigan
- Essential items for his new life: clothing, furniture, and daily necessities
To make this fundraiser special, we've created a unique opportunity to be part of Dieumy's story. We have a beautiful Haitian puzzle with 520 pieces. For every $20 donated, we'll write your name on the back of a piece. (i.e. a $100 donation puts your name on five pieces!) Once complete, we'll frame the puzzle to display both sides – the front showing the beauty of his homeland, and the back showcasing the beautiful community that helped bring him home. This framed piece will hang in Dieumy's room as a lasting reminder of the love and support that surrounded his journey to our family.
