Hello! My name is Ellena Ransom, and I am a student at Western Michigan University pursuing a dual degree: a Bachelor of Science in Aviation Management and Operations and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, with a concentration in Public Law. I am also honored to be a contestant in Miss Greater Kalamazoo, where I have the opportunity to share a cause that is particularly meaningful to me: environmental awareness, conservation, and the preservation of Michigan's natural beauty.
Outside of my academic pursuits, I have a deep appreciation for Michigan and everything that makes our state so extraordinary. From the Great Lakes and miles of beautiful shoreline to our forests, wetlands, diverse wildlife, and countless natural landscapes, Michigan is home to an incredible wealth of natural resources that make it truly unique. Growing up with an appreciation for everything our state has to offer has inspired me to take a greater interest in how we protect, preserve, and sustain these environments for generations to come.
My passion for the environment has grown into an interest in conservation, environmental education, and community-based climate action. I believe that protecting our natural world begins with understanding and appreciating it. Through exploration, education, and community involvement, we can develop a deeper connection to the environment and a greater understanding of our responsibility to care for it.
With this initiative, I hope to bring greater awareness to environmental issues affecting Michigan while highlighting the meaningful conservation and climate action efforts already taking place throughout our communities. I am particularly interested in opportunities that bring people together through local conservation projects, community cleanups, forest and trail maintenance, wildlife protection, and the responsible stewardship of our natural resources.
Ultimately, my goal is to encourage a greater appreciation for Michigan's natural environment and inspire more people to become involved in protecting it. I believe our wildlife deserves thriving habitats, our natural resources deserve responsible stewardship, and the natural beauty that makes Michigan so special deserves to be preserved for generations to come.
Your support is needed and so greatly appreciated! Donations will help me advance this initiative, support my environmental outreach efforts, and pursue opportunities to become more involved in conservation and community-based climate action throughout Michigan. Every contribution, no matter how small, is meaningful and brings me one step closer to making a difference. Thank you for supporting me and joining me in helping protect the natural beauty, wildlife, and resources that make Michigan home.
