On February I took Cassidy to Jackson Hole WY for a Valentine's road trip. Our last day of going skiing little did we know that something bad was going to happen. Cassidy hit a tree and shattered her knee cap in 5 pieces. In the video you will see the moment of impact. She got on her 2way radio to let me know she hit a tree and she thought her leg was broken or dislocated. She could not move or flag anyone because she was in the center and inside of a tree covered with snow. The rescue team found her and got her in an ambulance to take her to the hospital. The doctor in the emergency room told us the bad news and said she needs surgery asap. Her injury was going to keep her out of work for 6-8 months after the 3 month she began having physical therapy 3 times a week. Cassidy and I are self-employed. She is an amazing hair and makeup artist and I am a photographer. Our line of work requires us to stand most of the time. The day after her surgery, that is when covid19 news and the stay at home was mandatory. We knew this was going to hit us hard in our savings, but we tried to do the best we could during covid19. Many of the events and photoshoots were canceled and it is understandable, but with little work, covid19, and an uncertain future was very concerning. As months went by. I knew that our dream of being first time home owners was fading more and more. Banks were not giving loans and because of covid19 we didn't have all the paperwork requested by the banks and also the IRS was taking even longer to process our taxes in order to show the banks part of the requirements. In July she was able to stand and walk slowly and for a moment I believed things were getting better. Her bones were healing and getting stronger, but she could now feel with her own fingers the screws/bolts or metal against her skin. She could not get on her knees because the metal screws or bolts were pressing on her skin. Obviously a second surgery to remove the metal will be necessary. Because of having another surgery, I knew we had to say goodbye to our dream of buying a house. It was hard to let go of a dream, but my concern is her health first. Some of us have donated money to people in need or donated other things. As I am writing our story I have come to realize that it is easy for people to give and help, but it is hard to ask someone, a friend, or a stranger like you for help. That's where I am at the moment. Asking for help to cover her upcoming surgery andtowards buying or give a downpayment for a home.  Cassidy has no idea I am reaching out with the hope of getting funds reach our goal and maybe give her a surprise if we have any funds left to put into buying a home.
