In 2019 my world was forever changed. Unexpectedly I lost my partner of 25 years. He was home with 2 of our daughters and had an asthma attack that he could not get under control. I tried to save him but was unable to. He was on life support for 3 days and incredibly was able to give life to other people. Myself and our 4 daughters have been carving out a new life for ourselves every since, because that is what you do. Even when your entire life has been changed the rest of the world just keeps moving.
When Doug and I were young adults we use to walk his family property and I would say to him, "Someday this is going to be used for something magical. "
That magic is ready. My life is to be lived with a strong purpose now. That purpose is to help others through their grief. With our loss, House of Girls was born.
Our mission was birthed from the raw emotions and realities that grief brings. We will provide tools, workshops and support for individuals to process their grief in a healthy environment. We are here to support the process of grief regardless of what type of loss an individual has encountered. Here you can openly grieve, rest, and explore ways to awaken your changing self.
Monies funded will be used to start up this project: to clear some land, create an amazing meditation field of wildflowers, a smash room, retreat for grievers to heal through nature, to maintain the 15 acre walking path for year round use (walks, running, snowshoeing), for art therapy, meal gathering, forest bathing and cold submerging therapy. There is such a need to normalize grief and grievers and for people who have suffered a loss to have a gathering place outside of the 'normal' grief groups. We will offer a place for you to get angry and to be raw and to work through all of the emotions that comes with grief and also a soft place just to land when you need it.
