Help Us Save This Sweet Stray’s Life

On March 24, 2025, I found a severely injured stray dog on Highway 7 in Brewster, Nebraska. She was alone, extremely malnourished, and bleeding from the mouth. I wasn’t sure if she had been dumped, jumped from a vehicle, or had gotten lost—but it was immediately clear she needed urgent help.

We rushed her to the vet, and after X-rays and an exam, we received heartbreaking news: she had been shot in the face, resulting in significant trauma to her jaw.💔 Her injury is serious, but thankfully the rest of her body appears healthy and strong.

No owner has come forward at this time. Despite everything she’s endured, she’s still trusting and sweet. We believe she deserves a second chance at a life filled with safety and love.

We’ve made the decision to move forward with jaw reconstruction surgery in Omaha. The vet estimates the cost to be between $2,000–$5,000, with the higher end being more likely due to the extent of the damage.

We wouldn’t do this if we didn’t believe she could recover and live a good life.

If you feel moved to support her recovery, any donation—no matter how small—makes a difference. Whether you donate, share, or send good thoughts, we are so grateful. 💛

Let’s show this girl that the world still has good people in it.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

I wanted to share an update on Juni (Juniper), the sweet pup who was shot twice in the head with a .22. Because of the damage to the right side of her lower jaw, blood flow to several teeth has been compromised. Right now, we’re not sure if those teeth will need to be removed. The fragmented pieces of her jaw have been successfully removed, but she also has damage to her nasal cavity. Worst-case scenario, this could lead to chronic infections—but we’re hoping for the best possible outcome.

Juni is scheduled to go under anesthesia on May 22nd so the vet can assess what’s next—whether that means jaw reconstruction, tooth extractions, or both. We’re taking it one step at a time and keeping our spirits up.

We’ve raised the fundraising goal to $8,000 just in case the next round of care costs as much as the previous surgery. The vet's office mentioned that, in the worst case, it could be a similar cost—just over $4,000. Thankfully, we were given a generous discount of more than $1,000 last time, and we’re incredibly grateful.

Thank you all for your ongoing love, support, and generosity!! Juni’s journey is still unfolding, but she’s surrounded by so much care and compassion!
