I’m April Barron, RN—a mother, nurse, community advocate, and founder of Mindful Remedy. In July 2024, my 25-year-old son, Matthew Isaiah, was lost to fentanyl poisoning. That devastating loss changed the direction of my life.
I made a promise that Matthew’s story would not end with his death.
I have turned my grief into action—educating communities about fentanyl, substance use, mental health, harm reduction, and the urgent need for compassionate, evidence-based care. I believe we must stop judging people who are struggling and start building systems that give them a real opportunity to survive, heal, and recover.
On September 25–26, I’m traveling to Washington, D.C. with United Against Fentanyl to help bring the voices of families directly to our nation’s leaders. I’m going not only for Matthew, but for every life lost, every family grieving, and every person still fighting to survive.
Your contribution will help cover the costs of getting me to Washington so I can continue turning pain into purpose and loss into lasting change.
Please help me carry Matthew’s story—and the voices of countless families—to Capitol Hill.
For Matthew. For every family. For every life we can still save. 💚
