Hello, I’m Caitlin Happel, a senior at Abington High School, and I’m passionate about honoring our Veterans. I grew up hearing stories from my Grandfather about his time in the Army, and through those narratives, I came to realize the importance of Veterans and the sacrifices they make for our country.
Last year, I hosted a Pancake Breakfast that raised $600 for my cause. Since then, I have placed POW/MIA memorials into local establishments, including Martins Restaurant, Yaz's Table, Abington's Council On Aging Senior Center, and Abington's Superintendents office. I have also received a Citation from the House of Representatives, in honor of my worthy service towards the Veteran Community. As of now, I’m on a mission to continue my project, and place as many POW/MIA tables into local establishments as possible.
I partnered with Veteran Bob Rice, who crafts POW/MIA chairs and distributes them on a national level to all 50 states. Mr. Rice only charges for the cost of the chair and the stencil only, as we both donate our time and labor. I have also received advice and guidance from Abington's Veteran Agent Adam Gunn, who has been an incredible mentor.
I’m seeking your support for this heartfelt initiative. A table and chair cost $150, and I aim to raise $600 for more installations in our town. Your contribution, big or small, makes a significant impact in honoring our Veterans. Thank you for being part of this meaningful journey.
