Almost one year ago, my sister and I rescued Thor from a life of abuse and neglect. He had been mistreated for years, yet from the moment we brought him home, he has been nothing but loving, trusting and kind. Thor is the sweetest, most gentle soul — the kind of dog who greets everyone with a wagging tail, cuddles when you’re sad, and looks at you like you’re his whole world.
For the first time in his life, Thor finally got to experience what it means to be a real dog — walks, treats, belly rubs, and endless love. Sadly, just a few days ago, he became very sick. We rushed him to the vet and spent $360 on X-rays today, and tomorrow he will need even more testing and likely surgery. Without it, we may have to make the heartbreaking choice to put him down… just 17 days before our 1-year anniversary of rescuing him.
Thor is only 8 years old, and we believe he deserves more time to live the happy life he’s just begun to know. My sister is a single mom of three young kids, and they absolutely adore Thor — he is their best friend and protector. Losing him would shatter their hearts, as well as ours.
