Hello, I urgently need your help. On Friday night of April 23rd, 2022 I was randomly and unprovokedly shot in my right knee by an unknown shooter while out on the side of the road ,on a side street doing a pre trip inspection of my semi truck. I never saw the shooter who shot me as it was dark and they left quickly. I laid in the road bleeding and calling out for help. As I was bleeding and in a lot of pain realizing that no one was around to hear or to help me I managed to crawl into my cab and drive my Simi up the street till I flag down a police officer who made sure I was able to get to a hospital. I had surgery the following Saturday morning to remove the bullet and stitch up the hole that it left behind.Because I was the victim of a random shooter I have been off work since this happened. I am not sure how much this is going to cost me in medical bills and lost wages. I still have to have 6 weeks of rehab to go and I have not had a paycheck since that Friday (the night I was randomly shot).I am a Semi truck driver by trade so if I do not work I do not get paid. I have helped many people along my travels over the years that I see stranded on the side of the road. I have waited with them and helped them find a good towing service or have gotten them gas if they ran out. I have changed tires for some along the road or have simply bought them lunch or dinner. Once, I even strapped up the front of a motorist’s vehicle after their car hit a deer that ran in front of them making their vehicle drivable again so they could get to their destination. I never took money for anything I did. I help people because I can and because it’s the right thing to do. I want to pay it forward. With my skill sets as a trucker I am in a position that I can offer help to people I meet along my route because I want to show others that I care about them and that there are still people out there like me who are good Samaritans and are willing to take the time and stop to help others in need.My Mom also lives with me and I take care of her. She is disabled and can’t work so I take care of the both of us. I currently can no longer support us both as I have been out of work since the incident of being shot and still have weeks to go of rehab and am running out of my savings that I have managed to save over the years. I currently do not know how much money this is all going to cost me as I have not yet gotten any of the bills from my surgery, hospital stay, or rehab. I have no other family to help us. I am relying on other good Samaritans right now to return the favor and help me on this journey. I need your help now and any money amount (even if it’s just only a $1) you can offer would be much appreciated! Please get the word out also - about my situation of being randomly shot for no apparent reason by a person shooting others for “sport” and now I have to deal with the fallout of healing my bullet wound, unpaid leave from work, medical bills piling up and being left with not knowing how to support me and my disabled mother through all of this. This could have happened to anyone as I was just at the wrong place at the wrong time being victimized by a person running around with a gun targeting innocent people to shoot.
