In the refugee camps of eastern Chad, thousands of displaced Sudanese women and girls face an often-overlooked crisis: the lack of access to menstrual hygiene products, education, and safe facilities. Periods something natural and universal have become a source of shame, health risks, and lost opportunity. Many women are forced to use unsafe materials like rags or leaves, leading to infections and discomfort. In communities where menstruation remains a taboo subject, the silence only deepens the struggle.
We are Dar-Aid, a nonprofit organization based in New York, founded by members of the Sudanese diaspora dedicated to supporting displaced people from Sudan through humanitarian aid, health initiatives, and education. Our mission is to restore dignity and improve the quality of life for refugees who have endured unimaginable hardship.
The Menstrual Dignity Project is one of our first major initiatives. This project aims to provide menstrual hygiene kits, education sessions, and awareness workshops for women and girls in refugee camps across Hadjar Hadid, Teragen, and Beragen in eastern Chad. Each menstrual kit will include reusable or disposable pads, underwear, soap, and a small towel essentials that many women cannot access or afford.
But our work doesn’t stop at supplies. Through this campaign, we will also work with local partners and community health workers to deliver menstrual health education addressing myths, teaching basic hygiene practices, and empowering women to talk openly and confidently about their bodies. We believe that knowledge is power, and when women are informed and equipped, their health, confidence, and participation in daily life flourish.

Purchase menstrual hygiene kits and supplies
Support community workshops on menstrual health and stigma reduction
Train local volunteers to continue education after distribution
Cover logistics and transportation to reach remote camps
