Hi, my name is Kelsey and I along with my husband Corey and his wife Rita have been caring for a Vietnam army veteran named Bill for the past two years. Bill is the nicest man I have ever met in my life, he has in many ways been like the grandfather I never had. Bill has dementia and in the past few months his mind has severely declined at a fast pace. He is up most hours of the night now, thinking people are in his home, calling out for his mom and for his son that passed during Covid. Two weeks ago he fell in his garage and got a concussion and his mind got even worse. His wife cares for him the majority of the time and my husband and I stay at night and come up during the day at times to help her. I work full-time and my husband left his job to be home with our youngest son and to help with Bill. We have tried for months to get VA funding to help pay for his care so that we can be there more for him and hire others as well to help his wife but have been unsuccessful so far. It has been appointment after appointment with long waits in between. I feel that bill is in end stage of dementia now as things are so much worse and I’m asking that if anyone can just please donate to help his wife pay for the care needed for him until he gets called home. Thank you!
