This fundraiser is being hosted by a small group of locals in North Conway that had the pleasure of getting to know Earn this summer. Earn was a beloved member of our team at three local businesses in the Mount Washington Valley this year and we are creating this campaign together to support her family during this incredibly difficult time.
On Friday Aug 22nd, Earn was tragically hit by a car while riding her bicycle on her commute to work and on August 23rd, after extensive medical care, she passed away. Her parents, who live in Thailand, were in the process of obtaining an emergency visa to see their daughter in the hospital but unfortunately they weren’t able to make it in time for them to see her while she was still alive.
Earn came to our community as a J1 visa holder early this summer from Thailand where she studied at university there. She was sponsored initially by Thai Nakonping restaurant but, as the hardworking and driven young woman she was, she got herself a second job at Synergy. In the last few weeks, she also started a third job at Banners restaurant. Needless to say, she was an exemplary employee; smart, thoughtful, helpful and kind. I can safely say we were all lucky to have her working with us. She was truly an incredible young woman with so much potential. I can only imagine how proud her parents are of the person they raised and how heartbroken they must be at this time. We are all mourning losing her, she was truly special.
After being treated at Memorial Hospital, Earn was airlifted to Dartmouth Hospital for specialist treatment involving surgery and ICU care. Her family is still working on coming to the United States to see her and to begin the process of bringing her remains home to Thailand. The total financial costs for them at this point are unknown but we are hoping that a contribution from our community will ease this burden.
If you are able to contribute, any amount helps. If a contribution is not possible for you at this time, please consider sharing this fundraiser. Help us show her family that her time in our community will never be forgotten.
Thank you to all the first responders and medical staff from here to Dartmouth that worked to try to save this young woman’s life. And thank you to all of you for your consideration in supporting our cause.
