Support Nelson’s Recovery and New Homestay Project in Santa Ana, El Salvador
Nelson “Castor” Cañas is a passionate local guide and entrepreneur in Santa Ana, El Salvador. He’s spent years helping travelers experience the real heart of his community through his hostel, guiding, and photography. More than anything, he’s someone who gives, making strangers feel like family and showing up for others again and again.
Now, he needs that same support.
Recently, Nelson went through a serious medical emergency. After a routine surgery, he was rushed back to the hospital with severe internal bleeding. His life was saved, but his recovery isn’t over.
Although he survived, his health is still fragile, and he urgently needs follow-up medical tests, ongoing treatment, and financial support to continue his recovery.
Despite these challenges, Nelson hasn’t stopped working to build his dream. He has just launched a unique Spanish immersion homestay where visitors can live with a local, learn the language, explore Santa Ana, and experience cultural tourism in El Salvador in a meaningful, sustainable way: https://www.santaanahomestay.com
It’s thoughtful, authentic, and worth supporting. But right now, he needs help to recover and keep going.
Your donation will help Nelson:
- Cover urgent medical care and recovery costs
- Support daily living expenses during his fragile recovery
- Maintain and grow his homestay business and cultural programs
By contributing, you’re not only helping a good person in a medical emergency—you’re supporting ethical travel, sustainable tourism, and community-based cultural experiences. Even sharing this fundraiser can make a big difference.
Nelson has spent years giving to others; now it’s our turn to help him heal and continue his work.
