My name is Darrell Orlando, and I've recently been diagnosed with a 5.0 thoracic aortic heart aneurysm. It’s been a whirlwind since doctors at St. Elizabeth gave me just six months to a year. A trip to Cleveland offered me a bit more hope with an estimate of one to two years, but the clock feels like it’s ticking. I live in Girard, Ohio, and my life has revolved around this community, coaching kids in baseball and football, sharing in their victories and losses. Now, all I can think about is making sure my affairs are in order for my daughter Amy, who has stood by me, along with my brother and sister who’ve helped with financial strains like my car loan, as my SSI barely lasts the month. Each day, my health seems to slip a bit more, yet watching my son recover from major surgery gives me a glimmer of strength. Nurses come by daily, and while they help manage my high blood pressure, the stress of unpaid bills and keeping my modest life insurance policy active weighs heavily. More than anything, before my time comes, there’s one simple wish I hold: to see my beloved Cleveland Browns play one last time. A piece of joy amidst everything, something to share with those I love.
