Joycelyn Carpenter, my longtime neighbor, dear friend and Hillsborough County teacher--is the founder of Tampa-based "Kids with a Call, Inc." (KWAC) a grassroots non-profit 501C(3) music summer camp program located in Tampa, FL.
The theme for this year's (2025) music summer camp program is: "America is One Love, One Nation Under God!"
The students will sing Patriotic songs, and learn to play a few of them in an orchestra! They will tap dance and learn taekwondo. Guest speakers will visit them daily and art teachers will focus on Patriotic Symbols with a grand finale presentation planned for community/parents' attendance to showcase their progress.
Joycelyn's ongoing hope has been to have a safe space in the community that could house and store instruments already purchased with donations received from community sponsors and others that believe in KWAC's mission. She has, up to now, stored them at personal expense. Funds would also help cover costs related to student involvement.
