Help Me Get Back on the Road

I never thought I would be in a position where I needed to ask for help, but I am facing an unexpected hardship and could use the support of my community.
Last year, I was involved in a car accident and lost my vehicle. I patiently waited for my settlement and, after months of uncertainty, I was finally able to purchase another vehicle on March 20, 2026. Having reliable transportation again was a huge relief because I depend on my car to get to work and meet my daily responsibilities.
Recently, the check engine light came on, and I noticed the vehicle was having trouble shifting gears. I took it to a mechanic hoping it would be a minor repair, but I received the difficult news that the transmission needs to be replaced. The estimated cost of the repair is approximately $5,000.
Before learning that the transmission had failed, I spent over $400 on parts and DIY repairs in hopes of fixing the problem myself. Unfortunately, none of those efforts solved the issue, and that money came directly out of my budget for essential expenses.
My car is my only means of transportation, and I commute about 30 miles to work. Because of the ongoing vehicle problems, I have already missed work, which has made my financial situation even more difficult. The unexpected repair costs, combined with lost income, have left me struggling to keep up with my rent and other bills.
I have tried every option available to me. I applied for a personal loan but was unable to qualify because I am still rebuilding my credit. I also looked into financing and payment plans for the repair, but I was denied those as well.
After everything that happened following last year's accident, I am simply not in a position to cover a $5,000 transmission replacement on my own. I am reaching out and asking for help so I can repair my vehicle, get back to work consistently, and regain some stability.
