Last April, I was taken off of work permanently due to many chronic health issues that affect every part of my daily life, the worst of those being POTS Syndrome, Vasovagal Syncope with asystole (heart pauses), and seizures. At that time, my husband also had to leave the full-time job we were working together to be my 24/7 caregiver.
While the whole thing has been a struggle, the biggest struggle for me has been losing my independence and ability to do basically anything. With these conditions, I am unable to drive or do any kind of physical activity, including walking more than 2-300 feet at a time because it causes me to go into Vasovagal Syncope episodes, ultimately resulting in my heart stopping and me going into a seizure every time. I also have severe intolerances to heat, cold, standing, squatting, bending over, lifting, using stairs, etc. Most days, it's a struggle for me to simply get out of bed. Because of this, I am no longer able to comfortably go on outings with my family and it has severely affected my mental health.
All of that being said, I am trying to gather the funds to be able to afford a good all-terrain wheelchair that will allow me to be able to do these things again. Any extra funds will go towards continued training for my service dog.
Thank you all so much for reading my story. Any little bit will help me reach my goal of independence and being able to go out and do fun things with my family again.
