What started as a terrifying complex medical emergency has become a fight for Trouble’s life. At only six months old, Trouble has already survived a complex partial lung lobectomy after a focal tear/leak in his lung. We hoped that surgery would be the turning point, but he is now back in the ICU, battling a suspected pulmonary thromboembolism (PTE), a dilation in his heart, and the effects of a condition that continues to challenge his tiny body. His current veterinary team is doing everything possible to stabilize him, including multiple anticoagulant treatments and medications, and we are holding onto hope every step of the way.
Through all of this, Trouble has never stopped showing us who he is. He wants to walk. He wants to cuddle. He wags his tail for the vet team with a trust and gentleness that is nothing short of heartbreaking and inspiring. Even in the middle of this ICU battle, his spirit is still shining through.
The emotional toll has been enormous, and the financial strain is just as overwhelming. Four different vets and multiple surgeons/radiologists have worked to solve the mystery of Trouble’s case. The investigative care needed to find answers has caused delays due to the massive financial burden.
Between emergency care, surgery, ICU hospitalization, medications, diagnostics, and ongoing treatment, the vet bill has already climbed past $20,000 and continues to grow.
It can be easy for some to look at a number like that and say it is too much for “just a dog.” But Trouble is not just a dog. He is family. He is a soul with a wagging tail, a brave heart, and a will to keep fighting. The Hendrickson’s are not giving up on him.
This journey has been filled with vulnerability, fear, hope, and love. Trouble’s resilience reminds us of the strength that can exist even in the hardest moments, and we are doing everything we can to give him the chance he deserves.
We are asking for help to keep Trouble’s fight going. If you’re able to donate, no matter the amount, it will make a real difference. If you can’t donate, sharing this page would mean the world. Every act of kindness helps carry Trouble and his family through one of the hardest moments of their lives.
Thank you for reading, for caring, and for helping Trouble keep fighting. Your support means more than words can say.
