Hi, my name is Breanna, and I'm a mother, stroller runner, and single parent to two beautiful little girls, Estrella and Solana. We live here in sunny Los Angeles, CA.
Every day, I walk the equivalent of a 5K just to get where we need to go.
Pediatric appointments. Childcare. Grocery shopping. Life.
Between our stroller, two babies, diaper bag, groceries, and everything else we need, I'm pushing and carrying more than 120 pounds through every city. Up hills. Up flights of stairs. On and off buses. Most days in the LA heat. Sometimes while sleep-deprived. Always because my girls need me and as their mom, I'll do anything for them.
This isn't my workout; this is simply how we get around.
Our Story
After leaving an abusive relationship, I lost access to the family vehicle I had been driving. Since then, my daughters and I have relied on walking, public transportation, medical rides, and the kindness of others while rebuilding our lives.
I'm incredibly proud that we are safe. I'd make the decision to leave a thousand times over.
But rebuilding from zero isn't easy.
I still have an old paid-off Chevy car in Seattle, but it is not longer operable or accessible. Because of the circumstances surrounding our move, most of our belongings—including equipment that could help me earn income—had to be left behind.
So for now, we're doing what we can.
We're getting where we need to go.
Last summer, I started running with my stroller for my health.
Running became my therapy.
It became my joy.
I chose to turn a physically demanding part of my everyday life into a positive- something that yes, I "have" to do, but also choose to do: because I have a mission.
As a mother to two small children, every stroller walk and run holds a purpose.
No matter what it required of me, I kept going.
I'm still going. Every day, every mile brings us one mile closer.
And with a community backing us, I know we will reach that finish line where our very own vehicle is waiting for us,

Last Thanksgiving, my daughter Estrella and I completed the Widdle Wobble at Turkey Trot LA. She earned her very first race bib, T-shirt, and medal—and together, we even raised $25 for The Midnight Mission to support families experiencing homelessness.
This year, we're back.
Meet Team "Estrellitas" (it means 'little stars' in Spanish). ⭐
This year, we're running for something incredibly personal.
Our goal is to help our family get one mile closer to a reliable vehicle. 🚗
Why a Vehicle Would Change So Much
I'm a solo parent and single mother with two little girls under two. Right now, we get where we need to go on two feet, three/four wheels of a stroller, and public transportation.
And while I will always do whatever it takes for my girls, a reliable family vehicle would completely change our everyday lives.
It would mean both car seats could stay safely installed.
The stroller could stay folded up in the trunk until we need it.
No more carrying everything up and down stairs.
No more rushing to catch buses on time with two babies.
Less time spent commuting and more time together.
Easier access and daily reliability to childcare, appointments, work, and everyday necessities.
More flexibility when life doesn't go according to plan.
More opportunities to earn income and build our future.
Less physical exertion and exhaustion.
More safety.
More freedom.
It would make everything a lot easier.
I don't see having a reliable vehicle as giving up or asking for too much.
I see it as building a better foundation for my daughters.
I have a plan. I know what kind of vehicle would fit our family's needs. I understand the responsibility and ongoing costs of owning one. I've applied for charitable vehicle programs and I'm doing everything I can to make this happen.
Now, I'm inviting my community to be part of the journey.

My dream has never been just to rebuild my own life.
I want my journey—and everything I learn along the way—to encourage other women, single mothers and solo parents who may be in the middle of their own difficult season.
I want them to know that their goals are possible.
Freedom is possible.
Starting over is possible.
And even when your 'finish line' feels far off, you don't have to get there all at once.
Every step you take gets you closer.
Every mile counts.
Every day you show up matters.
Every every mile I have walked and ran for my daughters and little family has been out of love and create the best life possible for them.
I have put everything I have into providing my girls a life where we all three are safe, happy and healthy.
I'm so grateful for how far we've come so far.
I am determined to reach my goal.
Every day we are getting one more closer.
And I know I don't have to do it alone.
That's why I created this campaign, this mission, "One Mile Closer"- to ask you to come along side me (and my lil family) and join our journey 'til we get there.
I can hardly wait until the day I open up the car door to put my babies in car seats, sit down in the air conditioning and "go!" (as my 1.5 year old loves to say when it's time to leave).
