Dear Friends,
We’re reaching out today on behalf of someone who has spent a lifetime reaching out to others — Jesse Schaa, a cherished friend, neighbor, and tireless community advocate.
For many years, Jesse has been a shining light in our town. Whether organizing local events with the various organizations such as, Niles Christmas Parade, Fremont 4th of July Parade, Candle Lighters, Fremont Elks Lodge #2121, Irvington Business Association, Fremont Chamber of Commerce, or simply lending a helping hand wherever it was needed, he has always shown up with a kind heart and an open hand. His compassion, generosity, and selfless spirit have touched countless lives.
But now, Jesse is facing a serious medical challenge — one that comes with not only emotional and physical strain but also significant financial burden. It’s our turn to show up for him, the way he’s shown up for us time and again.
You may have been aware that Jesse has been dealing with a problematic hip and was preparing for a hip replacement. During the pre-operative process, he underwent blood work which revealed elevated levels of PSA, leading to a prostate biopsy. Though he received the tough news that the biopsy was positive for an aggressive form of cancer, and he will have surgery to remove his prostate, he remained in good spirits. The surgery was a success and follow-up appointments will determine additional medical treatment as needed.
Jesse is in the recovery process from prostate removal surgery and looks forward to returning with renewed perspective and a heathier self. Jesse will then continue with the medical process to take care of that hip that started this whole thing and get it replaced. Sometimes you find something unexpected along the path. As Jesse says, this is just a little bump in the journey.
We are organizing a fundraiser to help ease the financial strain of his medical treatment and to support his recovery. Every contribution, no matter the size, will help provide the care he needs and remind him that the community he’s given so much to is here for him now.
If you’re able, please consider donating. And just as important — please share this message with others who know and love Jesse.
Thank you for your generosity, your prayers, and your support. Together, we can give back to someone who has given so much to all of us.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Friends of Jesse: Kelli Bean, Terri Lancaster, Roz Shackleford, Lisa Peck, Karen Ancona, and Irene Gonzales
