Our mom, Shelley Miller, has always been the heart of our family — full of strength, kindness, and unwavering support for everyone around her. Last week, our lives changed suddenly when she suffered a life-threatening aortic dissection, a rare and severe heart condition that required immediate emergency intervention.
Because of how critical her situation was, she was life-flighted by private medical jet from Lincoln, Nebraska to Aurora, Colorado, so she could be treated by one of the top heart surgeons in the country. The decision to transfer her saved her life — but it also came with enormous medical and logistical costs.
Shelley has now been in the ICU for six days, fighting hard and making progress every single day. Her care team has called her recovery so far remarkable — but there’s still a long road ahead. She’s had multiple procedures, countless tests, and continues to be monitored around the clock.
While we’re incredibly grateful that she’s stable and improving, the reality is that the medical bills, transport costs, travel expenses, and missed time from work are already starting to pile up. Our family is doing everything we can, but the costs of ICU care, rehabilitation, and everyday expenses are overwhelming.
We’re asking for help from friends, family, and anyone who knows Shelley — or simply feels moved by her story — to help ease this financial burden so we can focus on what matters most: her healing and recovery.
Your donation will go directly toward:
- Medical and hospital expenses
- Emergency life-flight and travel costs
- Rehabilitation and follow-up care
Every contribution, no matter the amount, makes a real difference. Just as Shelley has always been there for so many of us, we’re now asking for the community she’s touched to be there for her.
From the bottom of our hearts — thank you for your kindness, your prayers, and your support during this difficult time.
With love and gratitude,
Ryan Miller & Family
