JOHN

My name is John and I'm hiking the Appalachian Trail for our friend Charlie. I met Charlie when he was two years old and have watched him grow up to become the wonderful young man he is today. I have already hiked 1,400 miles in Charlie's name and will begin where I left off in New York to tackle the remaining 800 miles. My wife Lin will be my support person and our two son's, James and Alex plan to join us to hike a section of the trail for Charlie too. It gives us great pleasure to raise funds for Cure SMA in honor of Charlie.
CHARLIE

My name is Charlie. I was born with a neuromuscular disease called Spinal Muscular Atrophy. Because of this disease, I can only move a few of my fingers and not much else. Despite this challenge, I have always tried to keep a brave face and not let this unfortunate situation define me.
I’m a 20 year old college student who is studying computer science. I enjoy playing D&D both online and in person. I love watching the Chiefs, the Royals and Soccer with my family. I also like to play computer games and listen to live music in my spare time.
I want to support CureSMA because they have made a difference in my life and the lives of many like me with all research and new medicines available.
CURE SMA

Spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) is a disease that robs people of their physical strength, significantly impacting an individual’s ability to walk, swallow, or breathe. It affects one in 11,000 births in the United States, and one in 50 people is a genetic carrier. There is no cure yet, but there is great reason for hope. And that is why I am fundraising for the Cure SMA!
Research funded by Cure SMA is driving therapies that are changing the course of SMA. Together, we have the power to meet the ever-changing needs of all people with SMA and build a stronger future for generations to come.
Support me by making a tax-deductible gift today! Together we are stronger and can make a difference.
Thank you!
