My mode of transportation for my new job is scheduled to be REPOSSESSED.
This 2018 Honda Civic is the first car that I financed on my own in 2023. Saved my paychecks for a year for the down payment, with the help of my parents letting me live at home. It was going great until the business I worked at closed in January 2025, leaving all the employees jobless. I had steady paychecks/hours.
My unemployment benefits ran out in June. I am currently receiving food stamps. I was hoping to take advantage of Workforce and pursue Medical Assisting, but the program hasn’t been covered the entire year. I’ve been applying to other retail jobs, had a handful of interviews, but eventually the financial depression got the best of me. After months of not finding a job I became buried in my debt.
I was diagnosed with ADHD last year, as an 24 year old, which is something that has become increasingly difficult for me to process. It’s a disability that impairs my ability to think like a neurotypical 25 year old. Impulsivity, lack of consequence measurement and motivation, & anxiety/depression are all mental problems I struggle with; combine that with a changing routine/schedule from losing my job, and all my finances fell apart.
My car is scheduled to be repossessed today. I owe $1,600, but the lender told me I just need to pay $336 today to avoid repossession.
A couple days ago I was able to get a full-time job offer, that I accepted. The job is conditional on passing a state exam in order to sell insurance, that I had to pay out of pocket for. The job requires a reliable mode of transportation, and that’s my baby Civic. I need this car to be able to get to Fresno and work. I’m currently working on the 32 hour course, but my first paycheck is weeks away. I’m confident once I start working my new job, I’ll be able to get my ADHD managed, and my bills/debt under control. I ask the internet community for help as I’ve exhausted my parents financially trying to get by without a job. If you’re blessed with abundance this season, I would appreciate your help.
